India qualifies for Asian Cup

India qualified for 2011 Asian Cup qualification by thrashing defending champion Tajikistan 4-1 in Final of AFC Challenge Cup at the Ambedkar Stadium.

Sunil Chhetri was the hero of the day he scored and impressive hat trick and skipper Bhaichung Bhutia scored one piece.

For Tajikistan Fatkhullo Fatkhuloev scored a consultation goal.

Bob Houghton’s charges have also shown immense fighting spirit in all the matches and they realised their goal of joining the elite stage of the continent by qualifying for 2011 Asian Cup after 24 years.
