Confusing line from movie ‘Fight Club’ explained

London, Oct 21 (IANS) Actor Ed Norton, who starred in the hit cult movie “Fight Club”, has explained a confusing line from the movie which has confounded fans ever since the movie was released in 1999.

According to thesun.co.uk, fans of the movie based on the book by Chuck Palahnuik have been uncertain of what the line “Why the ear?” meant. Norton explained: “The first hit in the movie is supposed to be really awkward and we had kind of agreed that I would just connect with Brad’s shoulder muscle. (Director) David Fincher walked up right before we did the first one and just said, ‘Hit him in the ear.’ I said, ‘Really? I’m not sure, we’re just getting going on this, he doesn’t know me so well…’ but I went and just kinda clipped him with the point of my thumb and it’s in the scene. He says, ‘Why the ear?’”

Fincher liked the line and decided to keep it in the movie.
